Benefits of Group Therapy

Groups primarily offer connections, support, and alternatives in such a way that the difficulty becomes resolved through new and healthy ways of coping and via the gains of new interpersonal skills. A group allows a person to gain self-awareness, while developing new ways of relating to people. Group members often find comfort in realizing that they are not alone in the problems they are experiencing. Groups normalize personal challenges, and group members find this to be encouraging as they learn from others who have had the same experience. Members no longer feel alone and they gain hope and lessons to help them to overcome. If one can understand and work out their relationships in the group setting, there can also be enormous carry-over to your outside relationships.

Group Information 

The groups are closed, structured, and time limited therapeutic process and psychoeducational groups. The objective of each group is to enhance awareness; activate purposeful and healthy transitions The duration of the groups are 6 weeks long, groups meet weekly via Zoom for one hour and groups consist of 12 members. Groups state whether they are process content or psychoeducational in nature. All groups have a focus topic and each member is screened prior to for readiness. Individuals are required to commit to the process for the 6 week duration.

Process Group

This is a faith-based group, which helps individuals come to terms with their existence. Individuals will discover that their identity is defined by God and located in His divine will. They will learn about how their mind, body, and spirit connects to their thoughts, emotions, desires, and purposes. They will learn how their emotions are valid and are rooted in a God with emotions, and how their identity and desires are filled with the purposes embedded in them by God. Trauma can have a negative impact on self, which can cause stagnancy. This results in feeling lost or stuck. This is a self-discovery group which will aid with discovering the hidden self. The group will help to unleash dynamic purposes because change causes growth, and purposes that are stagnant may be perceived as obstacles; however, they are actually growth potentials. This group will employ biblical principles along with therapeutic concepts to shape, guide, and empower each group member.

Coping Through Everyday Life

Psychoeducational Group

This is a group that offers psychoeducational insight on the stress model, the brain and the body, and how they are connected. Additionally, therapeutic concepts are introduced and explored as coping tools to assist with managing daily stressors. The objective of the group is to enhance one's awareness of how they are intelligently designed to respond to stress, and how the brain responds to thoughts. With this knowledge, individuals will gain a better understanding of their thoughts, themselves, and they will be able to create and live in a world that is more peaceful and less stressful by employing perspective shifts and other clinical techniques. This group will explore ways to decrease stress levels, decrease presentations of mental health conditions and other physical ailments. 

 

Coping Through Everyday Life is also offered as Coping through Hope, which is a faith-based group. This group employs biblical principles along with therapeutic concepts to help individuals gain insight of heart issues, which parallels with symptoms associated to mental health issues and physical ailments. This group assist with eradicating the stigma associated with mental illness, while helping individuals who want to address their mental health issues via faith and clinical knowledge to ultimately support their healing.

Healing Through Transitions

Process Group

This group aids in the healing process as individuals transition through life's turmoils. Through a well executed strategic plan, individuals will be enabled to transform into the best version of themselves. The group will process transitions in life and explore the core of self with a healthy perspective. This will be done by cultivating self-awareness in order for meaningful change, which produces effective growth. Individuals will benefit from exploring the intricacies of the inner self, recognize how elements of self affect thoughts, behaviors, moods, mental health conditions, relationships and behaviors.

Process Group

This group provides a safe and inspiring place to connect and grow from the compelling stories written by others. Many personal stories leave a lasting impact, and paves the path of profound inspiration, and growth for others. Each individual can reflect, express, and connect to stories based on where they are in their lives. This approach has therapeutic benefits and is most effective when used to supplement other forms of therapy.
